In April 2010 Alison McEwan, Partner at Langley Twigg, was appointed as Chairman to The Hawkes Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust. Alison has been involved in the Trust for the last 3 years. Her decision to join the Trust was, in part, motivated by a personal experience; her husband Alistair had an accident at work approximately 3 years ago and he was flown from Wairoa to Hastings for the required treatment. Alison is extremely proud to be involved in a Trust that provides an essential service to the region. The Hawkes Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust not only provides a service to people involved in accidents but also transfers acute patients when the Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital is unable to offer certain clinical procedures, such as heart operations. The Trust recently decided to up grade to a twin-engine to ensure continued access directly to Wellington Hospital. The Board consists of recognised Hawkes Bay locals; John Newland, Tony Mossman, Peter Dunkerley and other industry representatives. |
